Oh, the cookies and other sweet treats are all over the place during celebrations this time of year. Having self-control can be a bit difficult for all of us. Instead of being hard on ourselves, we are challenging everyone to shift their energy to eating 3-5 fruits and vegetables every day! You could add a fruit or vegetable to every meal or even have them as a snack. Tag Eat Right Philly in your Instagram story and we’ll showcase it on our page!

Tips:

  • Have fruits or veggies on hand, and eat a piece when you get hungry.
  • Keep a snack bag of dried fruit (like raisins or cranberries) in your purse, bag, or desk.
  • Add vegetables to your soup, rice, or pasta at dinner.
  • Add vegetables to your sandwich at lunch.
  • Cut up vegetables for easy access in your refrigerator.
  • Add canned, dried, or fresh fruit to your salad (for example, canned mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, or fresh apples).
  • Eat two vegetables with dinner.

Another way to add in healthy habits this month is whipping up new healthy recipes for your holiday celebrations! Start off with our warm and cheesy Bean Dip with Fresh Tortilla Chips. It has minimal ingredients, and the fresh tortilla chips make it extra special. End your meal with a simple and sweet treat – our Cherry Oat Crumble!
