Philadelphia STEM Equity Collective – Springing into Action!

The Philadelphia STEM Equity Collective (PSEC) has sprung into action! The PSEC has launched the selection process for the PSEC Steering Committee, the recruitment of Philadelphia area students to participate in the PSEC Student Advisory Council, and the formation of four Workgroups – Home and Community; K-12 Education; Post-Secondary Education and the Work Environment. These activities are integral to achieving the PSEC 10-year commitment to increase the number of women, Black and Latinx Philadelphia students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The PSEC Steering Committee and the PSEC Workgroups will include diverse representatives from the Philadelphia area including students, parents, schools, out-of-school time providers, universities, colleges, employers, local government, and the philanthropic community. The PSEC Student Advisory Council will recruit a diverse representation of students from across the Philadelphia area to ensure the student voice is embedded across the Collective.

The Collective is committed to increasing access to STEM programs in the community. As part of the collective’s efforts, the Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem has developed the Philadelphia STEM Education Directory to help students and parents/guardians find out-of-school-time STEM programs geared towards students Pre-K through high school. As the summer months are fast approaching, we encourage you to begin to search the directory for programs so that you can meet the registration deadlines. If you are a STEM Program Provider or a provider of STEM Professional development, PSEC encourages you to register your program to be included in the directory, by clicking HERE.
