We strive to ensure that all children and youth experiencing homelessness enroll, participate, and have the opportunity to succeed in school. Our mission is to reduce and/or eliminate educational barriers using local “best practices” and the authorized activities of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act.
The ECYEH vision:
- Improve and refine existing tracking system for students experiencning homelessness enrolled in the School District of Philadelphia
- Maintain existing program supports designed to improve attendance and academic performance for students experiencing homelessness
- Improve communication and coordination between ECYEH, parents, emergency / transitional housing staff, schools, and regional academic offices.
- Continue to build the capacity of parents, emergency / transitional housing staff, and schools to help minimize disruptions in the education of children and youth experiencing homelessness, and provide related services and activities.
