Spanish as a Heritage Language

The course Spanish for Native Speakers is designed to offer a World Language option for students who have proficiency in Spanish from experience outside the classroom. This course is designed to meet the needs of learners in the school’s community and foster the acquisition of other dialects, variants, or registers of Spanish, cross-curricular academic skills in Spanish, and expanding the students’ domains of proficiency.

Chinese as a Heritage Language

The course Chinese for Native Speakers will be offered at select schools for School year 2020-2021! Students with a background in Chinese will develop their proficiency with different registers and modes of Mandarin Chinese.

The ACTFL standards reflect the most updated and widely-used set of standards. The World-Readiness Standards are designed to articulate goals for Communication, Connections, Culture, Comparisons, and Communities.
