Priority Area 5 of the School District of Philadelphia’s strategic plan, Accelerate Philly, is to “deliver efficient, high-quality, cost-effective operations.” To this end, Strategic Action 5.12 requires that we “benchmark District performance against other large urban districts, utilizing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS) in: Academics, Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Operations.”

Of the KPIs published by CGCS, we selected 18 academic and operational KPIs to benchmark SDP against other large urban districts. The KPIs selected cover the areas of:

  • Secondary Achievement
  • Attendance
  • Discipline
  • Human Resources
  • Maintenance and Operations
  • Financial Management
  • Procurement
  • Safety and Security
  • Food Services
  • Information Technology

We selected the 25 districts that participated in the 2022 Trial Urban District Assessment (TUDA) as our district peer group. This slide deck includes available data for each KPI from 2017-18 through 2022-23 for SDP and our peer group (including the peer mean, median, maximum, and minimum).
