Snow, sleet, freezing rain, and ice could be upon us sooner than we would like to think! In preparation, The Office of Facilities has been evaluating the inclement weather procedures. One key change includes District personnel being dispatched earlier in the morning to survey the conditions of the streets and sidewalks to be able to provide information so that a decision can be made by senior administration as to whether or not schools can open.
Facilities is also reviewing contracts with the snow removal vendors to ensure a proper response. The team is replenishing the ice melt inventory as well as directing all custodial staff to begin testing and preparing the snow removal equipment. Weekend heating duty will be activated as needed to protect the mechanical systems in buildings thus allowing students to return to a safe and welcoming environment.
