When asbestos repair work forced the temporary shutdown of Building 21, the Maintenance team was called into action to prepare a suitable swing space for some 400 students and staff at Strawberry Mansion High School. Over the span of two days in early March, two contract service vendors and 40 tradespeople spent 543 hours preparing 20 classrooms, bathrooms, offices, lunch spaces, and other areas for the Building 21 community to use at Mansion. That herculean effort included replacing damaged floor tiles, installing new hardware and locks on classroom doors, and ensuring plumbing – toilets, sinks, urinals – were operational and without leaks. They also painted classrooms and restrooms to freshen the space for the Building 21 students and staff.
