This brief summarizes within‐year enrollment trends for 202,088 students whose first school of record in 2017‐18 was a District, Charter, or Renaissance Charter school. ORE examined the data according to three research questions:
- What percentage of students stayed and left their initial school of record during the 2017‐18 school year? What percentage of students moved once? What percentage of students moved two or more times?
- Are there differences in within‐year student movement by grade?
- What month during the year do students leave their initial school of record, and are there differences by school type?
