In 2020-21, ORE received responses from 5,518 seniors at 70 District high schools, representing 63% of enrolled 12th grade students. Responses indicated that:

  • 76.8% of seniors intended to pursue post-secondary education within one year of graduation;
  • Approximately 80% of seniors who intended to pursue post-secondary education within one year of graduation also intended to work (either full-time or part-time) while in school;
  • 28.9% of seniors who intended to pursue post-secondary education within one year of graduation planned on attending a 2-year college;
  • 25.5% of seniors who intended to pursue post-secondary education within one year of graduation chose health-related fields as their top college major of choice;
  • 26.1% of students who intended post-secondary education within one year of graduation and 40% of students who did not intend post-secondary education within one year of graduation indicated that their plans after high school have changed because of COVID-19; and
  • Over 80% of seniors strongly agreed that adults at their school gave them help in applying for college.
