Transportation Eligibility and Assignment

The Department of Transportation Services uses an automated routing system, COMPASS, to assess student transportation eligibility and assign transportation to students.

Understanding how COMPASS works will help you facilitate your students’ transportation as well as communicate with parents and guardians about their transportation and routing concerns and questions.

In order to determine eligibility, all pertinent data is entered into our mapping software called COMPASS. Our Scheduling Analysts use COMPASS to assign transportation services to students based upon current eligibility guidelines and communicate the transportation assignments to schools.

Please navigate to the Student Eligibility Guidelines page to view guidelines on student transportation.

For more information on COMPASS, please visit our COMPASS Training and Support page.
