Every spring, the Office of Research and Evaluation (ORE) administers the SDP District-Wide Survey to students, teachers, parents, guardians, and principals. The surveys measure five key topics: Climate, Instruction, Professional Capacity, Leadership, and Parent & Guardian Community Ties. This year, we’re working on a series that examines areas of agreement–and disagreement–between students, families, and educators.

The first installment compared responses from students, teachers, parents, and principals about respect, and the second looked at teacher and student responses about hard work. This third installment uses the same survey data to compare perspectives on three new questions:

  • Do students feel safe going to and from school?
  • Do students feel safe in classrooms, hallways, and bathrooms at school?
  • How much of a challenge is school crime / safety?
