In 2019-20, ORE received responses from 4,499 seniors at 66 District high schools, representing 52.9% of enrolled 12th grade students. Responses indicated that:

  • 81.6% of seniors intended to pursue post-secondary education within one year of graduation;
  • Approximately 75% of seniors who intended to pursue post-secondary education within one year of graduation also intended to work (either full-time or part-time) while in school;
  • 31.1% of seniors who intended to pursue post-secondary education within one year of graduation planned on attending a 2-year college;
  • 25.9% of seniors who intended to pursue post-secondary education within one year of graduation chose health-related fields as their top college major of choice;
  • 23.5% of students who intended post-secondary education within one year of graduation and 38.5% of students who did not intend post-secondary education within one year of graduation indicated that their plans after high school have changed because of COVID-19; and
  • 62% of seniors strongly agreed that adults at their school gave them help in applying for college.
