The Office of Capital Programs contracted with Shoemaker Construction Company to provide design, bidding, and construction improvements to the school to convert from an elementary school to serve grades nine through twelve. The scope includes site repair, roof replacement, façade repair, auditorium renovations, flooring repair, painting, and new lockers.

In February 2017, we substantially completed Phase B of the Widener Memorial School Major Renovation project.  The project included mechanical system improvements. New pipe insulation, new mechanical equipment and new windows will improve the classroom environment. This will also improve indoor air quality, eliminate potential mold issues, and provide temperature control for each space.

In January 2017, we completed a major mechanical replacement at Tanner Duckrey. The project included replacement of the chiller, chilled water, dual temp and condenser water pumps in the Mechanical Room. New pipe insulation on the dual temp piping in the mechanical room will eliminate the problem with condensation in the summer months from this piping. In addition, all of the unit ventilators were replaced in each classroom with local temperature control for each individual space.

In September 2016, we completed a major renovation of the auxiliary building at the Gompers Elementary School. The building was upgraded from two kindergarten classrooms to two middle school classrooms. The scope of work included new heating, ventilation and air conditioning units, interactive boards, new furniture, modernized restrooms, a new ADA accessible ramp, and new lockers.
