I always knew I would devote my career and passion into improving the lives of children. Before entering medical school, I was lucky enough to participate in a master’s program at Temple that allowed me to develop skills while teaching in Philadelphia public schools – it was an invaluable experience!

Wanting to stay in Philadelphia, I took a temporary position at Taggart Elementary school, and had the opportunity to work with an amazing principal who provided continuous support and encouragement, and skilled teachers who were passionate about educating children and willing to share their knowledge to the newbies. While I chose to continue on my path to medical school, my time in the District was invaluable and I vowed to myself that I would one day return to the school district to find a way to help improve our city’s education system.

Thanks to Mayor Kenney’s appointment to the School Board, I am honored with the opportunity to hopefully make good on that promise that I made to myself over 25 years ago. It is an exciting time to work in the School District of Philadelphia and I have been amazed with the progress that Superintendent Dr. Hite and his team have made. The School District is now recruiting teachers for the 2019-2020 school year. This is your chance to be a part of the rebirth of our schools and provide excellent education to the children who need it most. What could be better!
