Speaker Registration

Speaker registration is for members of the public and current Philadelphia School District or charter school students who would like to speak at a monthly Board of Education Action Meeting.

• Individuals may register to speak by submitting the speaker request form or by calling 215-400-5959 to register with Board staff.
• The speaker registration line and request form will open at 4 p.m. on the Monday preceding each scheduled Board meeting. 
• Registered speakers will be permitted to attend either in person or remotely.
• Within 24 hours of completing the form, you will receive an email confirmation.
• Please note there is a limit of 30 public speakers and 15 student speakers on each action meeting agenda and they will be filled as described in the speakers’ procedures.

Written testimony is for any member of the public wishing to submit comments to the Board in writing for a monthly Board of Education Action Meeting.

• Comments can be submitted in writing here.
• Put the words “Board Comments” in the subject line.
• Include your name and home address in the email.
• Within 24 hours of submitting your comments, you will receive an email confirmation.

The Board accepts unlimited written testimony that has been timely-submitted and will be noted according to the Speaker’s Policy & Procedures.

Each month the Board of Education meets to consider and vote on Action Items at their scheduled Board meeting.

Some examples of Action Items include Board policies, capital, and operational budgets, charter school authorizing, employment of School District employees, contracts with vendors, acceptance of grants, gifts, or donations, ratification of contracts, and more.

• Details of each Action Item are posted with the agenda of each Board Meeting generally 3 weeks in advance of that month’s meeting.
• Questions or comments on Action Items can be submitted by members of the public up to a week after the Action Items are posted.
• On the Monday before each meeting, responses to a representative sample of questions will be shared as part of the meeting agenda.
