Exterior Improvements consist of a newly paved access drive and parking area, a new dumpster location, and major improvements to the schoolyard for active and passive recreational use. The existing site access from Wayne Avenue will be re-paved (bituminous asphalt pavement), and the corner of Wayne Avenue and West Johnson Street will have an improved ADA-compliant crosswalk with curb ramps. The access drive leads to a new concrete dumpster pad and parking area. The existing schoolyard is currently paved and in poor condition. Much of the area will be re-paved with bituminous asphalt pavement) with some areas de-paved for new planting areas and stormwater management. New play equipment will include age-appropriate play structures with rubber safety surfaces, basketball, artificial turf play area, and surface-painted games. Seating areas and landscape planters will be installed. A subsurface stormwater management system is proposed in the schoolyard in compliance with PWD requirements.
