PERSONAL ILLNESS LEAVE
Employee Health Services monitors School District of Philadelphia employees who are out on extended personal illness leave. A licensed medical doctor will meet with such employees periodically during an extended personal illness leave to ensure that employees return to work when deemed medically fit to resume and perform their job duties.
MATERNITY/PARENTAL LEAVE
Employee Health Services handles all requests for maternity and parental leave. Please contact our office for information about the School District of Philadelphia’s maternity and parental leave options.
Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
The Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a federal regulation granting 12 weeks of protected absences for 1 year to eligible employees who need to take leave from work due to certain qualifying medical conditions or family events. Approved FMLA protection runs simultaneously with the employee’s paid and/or unpaid leave.
RESTORATION TO HEALTH SABBATICAL
Employee Health Services handles requests for restoration to health sabbatical leave.
PHYSICALS
Employee Health Services receives, approves and files the School Personnel Health Record form (physical). All School District of Philadelphia employees must submit a current and completed School Personnel Health Record form to meet Pennsylvania state regulations.
All School District of Philadelphia Bus Chauffeurs & other employees who possess a commercial drivers license (CDL), must have a complete physical examination before hiring and then once annually after hiring.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE SCREENING
Employee Health Services handles annual and/or random substance abuse screenings for Bus Chauffeurs, Building Engineers, and certain other employees.
