What is a GESA?

• Enables mass upgrades of building components to be replaced through a budget neutral process

What is an ESCO?

• Energy Service Company that develops, designs, builds and arranges financing for projects that save energy, reduces energy costs, and decreases operations and maintenance costs
• ESCO compensation is directly linked to the customer’s (The School District of Philadelphia) actual energy cost saving

The District selected NORESCO to implement the GESA-3 project through a holistic approach to building infrastructure upgrades, energy savings, and reduced utility costs as well as educational materials and engagement programs to those key stakeholders impacted by the project. Eight school buildings within the District are involved in the GESA-3 project to become more energy efficient, and to adopt the District’s culture of conservation and sustainability.

Energy Education programs engage teachers, students, and entire school communities around the science of modern energy use and the importance of organizational energy conservation. Within the GESA-3 project, NORESCO’s Green Operations team is engaging with the administrators, teachers, students, and families of the eight impacted school buildings to provide educational STEAM resources and curriculum enhancements, all of which are enriching the learning experiences of the District’s scholars.
