The School District of Philadelphia’s Office of Capital Programs has been awarded three SMIP Grants for stormwater projects. The grants, totaling $2.5 million, were submitted to The Philadelphia Water Department to create new inclusive schoolyards that include stormwater management systems, greening, and more for the following schools: S Weir Mitchell, Benjamin Comegys, and Avery D. Harrington. The support of the William Penn Foundation’s planning grant, Salt Design Studios and Rodriguez Engineering’s design team, and the Resilient Community Stormwater Initiative were critical in designing these projects.
