Dr. Sara Schwartz Chrismer has been with the School District of Philadelphia since 2008. As the Executive Director of Information Systems in the Office of Educational Technology, Sara works to design, implement, incubate, and coordinate training for District-wide systems and initiatives. Some of her projects have included: directing training and coordinating development of the new Student Information System and ERP Finance system; managing the District’s IT HelpDesk; coordinating a public-private partnership piloting an integrated literacy model; researching, designing, and launching the District’s Blended Learning Initiative; and working across offices to create the District’s online school – The SDP Virtual Academy. Prior to coming to the Office of Educational Technology, Sara directly served Chief-level officers in the offices of Academics, the Superintendent, and School Operations.

Sara came to the District after earning her M.Ed. and Ed.D. in Educational Policy at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her focus was on translating policy into practice. While in graduate school, Sara served as Chair of the Harvard Educational Review and worked as a research associate at Education Matters evaluating reform initiatives for the Boston Public Schools. Prior to graduate school, Sara taught 4th grade in Washington DC.

Sara and her husband are the proud parents of three SDP students.
