Staff COVID Health and Safety FAQs

Positive Staff:  An employee who has a positive result will submit the COVID-19 Positive Notification Form or contact the CRT (Covid Response Team) from Monday to Friday 8 AM – 4 PM at 215-400-5454 or coronavirusreport@philasd.org to report their case.
○ The COVID Response Team will generate the proper communication to be distributed at the school level.

  • Positive Employees
    • If symptom-free after 5 days of isolation, employees may return to work but must wear a mask for an additional 5 days and must eat in a designated area.

  • Masking
    • Identified close contacts will be required to mask for 10 days regardless of vaccination status instead of quarantine.
    • There will be no testing out of masking
    • If at any point during their mask to stay period they develop symptoms, they should self-isolate and pursue testing.
    • If close contact refuses to mask, they must quarantine for 10 full days and return on day 11.

  • Staff that reside with a positive family member
    • Must mask for 10 days regardless of vaccination status.
    • If at any point during their mask to stay period they develop symptoms, they should self-isolate and pursue testing.

  • Communications:
    • Notifications will be sent to affected individuals/close contacts

  • Cleaning and Sanitation
    ○ Schools are cleaned daily.
    ○ Classrooms and schools are sanitized after closures.
