Tanya joined the School District of Philadelphia in 1989, as a classroom teacher, and taught for 13 years at the K-8 level. She moved into leadership roles, such as: school growth teacher, data integration specialist (West Regional Office), and school-based instructional specialist (SBIS). She joined the Office of Educational Technology as an instructional technology integration specialist in 2010. In that position, she provided support integrating technology and instruction to students, teachers, and administrators, through lessons, one-on-one sessions, and professional development.

In 2016, she transitioned to the position of technology program specialist, a 12-month position, where, in addition to District-wide PDs, she supports District-wide initiatives in areas such as: SMART Technologies, Google, Infinite Campus, Integrated Learning, and other programs for this office.

Tanya is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Cheyney University.
