Learn Fresh is shipping NBA Math Hoops board games to families. This fast paced game allows students to act as their own NBA/WNBA coach. Through using fundamental math skills and real player stats, students make informed decisions on where to shoot on the court. It’s a game full of fun for the whole family! All interested families can go to this link to request a game: www.bit.ly/MHFamilyGame

Along with shipping games free of charge to student’s homes, we are also doing live webinars on Wednesdays from 1pm-2pm ET to learn how to play the game. It’s a fun, interactive experience for the whole family!

Below is information on the Youth Assist Tracker Challenge Grant Opportunity from NBA Cares and State Farm. If teachers are able to complete the lessons, and submit the application by 6/1/2020, they will be considered for either a $25K or $100K grant directly for their school site!

Youth Assist Tracker Challenge Grant Opportunity:

As part of the NBA Cares State Farm Assist Tracker, the NBA and State Farm® have teamed up to help impact your community – and others across the country – by donating $5 for every assist made in each game this season. You and your students will have the opportunity to compete for this funding by completing the Youth Assist Tracker Challenge.

All schools and out-of-school time programs are encouraged to participate and apply by completing the steps below:

  1. Complete the attached Youth Assist Tracker Challenge lessons with as many students as possible. 6-8th graders are preferred, although we will be flexible as we consider your application.
  2. Complete and submit this application form by Monday, June 1, 2020: bit.ly/2020YATCApp

After the application deadline, we will award two $25,000 grants and one grant up to $100,000 to deserving schools and programs across the country.

Some tips to note:

  • We know it may be hard to complete the steps during these times of distance learning, please feel free to reach out to Rebecca Wong (rebecca@learnfresh.org) with any questions.
  • You can lead the lessons with a smaller group of students
  • Adjust the “”””assists”””” from the student assist tracker to tasks that students can do at home (i.e. being extra nice to parents/siblings, turning off lights and water when not using, doing chores without being asked, making good choices, asking for special family time since everyone is at home and has their work to do)
