Academies and CTE Programs
The Freshman Academy
Roxborough freshman are introduced to life at Roxborough in our Freshman Academy. During their freshman year, our ninth graders take English I, Algebra I, World History, Physical Science, and a new Freshman Seminar course designed to facilitate the transition from middle school to the academically rigorous coursework that they will experience as high school students. Throughout the year, freshmen engage in activities specifically designed to prepare them for the rest of their high school career, and are exposed to the career focused programs into which they will matriculate as sophomores.

The Academy of Visual Arts Production (Web Design; Film and Video Production)
Web Design students learn how to work with HTML, CSS, and a wide variety of other computer technologies. They also develop web pages, create animation, design graphics, and produce video games. This program prepares students to earn industry-recognized certification in HTML & CSS, Certiport, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop, and also prepares students for the Web Design NOCTI.

Film and Video Production students work with the ever-changing technology that shapes the way we see the world. Cinematography students learn through hands-on experience with cutting edge software, professional grade equipment, including a television studio, industry standard cameras and microphones, and a lab equipped with digital editing computers featuring Final Cut Pro.

The Academy of Health Sciences and Research (Biotechnology; Kinesiology)
Biotechnology students engage in a rigorous, activity-based curriculum that strengthens and enhances their lab skills, exposes them to career paths in the field of biotechnology, prepares and places students in internships, and supports applications.

Kinesiology students develop knowledge and skills they will need to pursue careers in sports, fitness, and exercise. This program includes instruction in human anatomy and physiology, exercise science, nutrition and the management of sports related programs and facilities.
