District-Wide Professional Development Facilitator – District-wide PD days are a team effort. If you are interested in facilitating for your colleagues, please see THIS description and link to the application.

Induction Mentor – Are you interested in serving as a mentor?  The Induction Team is always looking for passionate and highly qualified teachers, who are looking to mentor teachers in years 0-6 in the state of Pennsylvania and experienced teachers who are new teaching in the state of Pennsylvania. New Teacher Mentor – New teachers to the District receive a mentor if they are hired during the school year. Interested in mentoring new teachers? Email professionaldevelopment@philasd.org to inquire.

Curriculum Writer – Curriculum writers work with the Office of Curriculum and Instruction staff to develop and review curriculum, Scope and Sequence, units, and instructional materials aligned to Common Core and PA Core Standards. Current openings can be found HERE!

Teacher Leader Academy (current teacher leaders only) – The objective of the Teacher Leader Academy (TLA) is to strengthen teacher leadership by aligning teacher leader roles and development structures to competencies and indicator skills essential for success. This is done by supporting teacher leaders through intentional learning experiences in a cohort format. Applications open each winter. Click HERE to learn more.

Speak to your building principal and let them know you’re looking to increase your impact.  Below are some talking points to get the conversation started:

  • Discuss your professional goals for the next 1-3 years
  • Share your strengths and how others in the building may benefit from your expertise
  • Discuss the leadership areas in which you want to strengthen
  • Ask for direct feedback about a certain leadership competency domain and suggestions for leadership development
