The District Performance Office has re-uploaded the 2018-2019 DWS due to an error in the Teacher School Level file. An erratum was included and states the following:
The 2018-2019 DWS Teacher School Level file contained an error where question Q9s (“Lack of computers or other technological resources: extent of school-level challenge.”) was misidentified as Q11e (“Lack of computers or other technological resources: extent of classroom-level challenge.”). This error has been corrected as of May 2023.

The District Performance Office has updated the labels for some of the Expenditure Information data sets shared on Open Data. It came to our attention that some of these data were erroneously labeled as Calendar Year when in fact they were based on the Fiscal Year calendar. The Fiscal Year for all of the Expenditure Information data sets runs from July 1st to June 30th. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused and have taken steps to update the labels and descriptions of these data sets accordingly. In addition, we are including the README files with each Fiscal Year data file. We thank our users for their understanding and continued support.

Additionally, the 2021 Fiscal Year file was identified to have a restriction that excluded some records. Another file has been extracted with the inclusion of these records and is now live on Open Data.

The District Performance Office is proud to announce the release of the 2019-2020 End of Year Report for the 2019-2020 school year. This report is being released instead of the SPR. The SPR was not able to be produced as, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and associated school closures, multiple state and local assessments were cancelled during the 2019-2020 school year.

Please note, the average for 2019-2020 is calculated through March 13th, 2020 and not through June. This is the result of the district closing due to Covid-19 and only reopening with online schooling through the end of the year.

The District is developing a new report on student and school performance, which would replace the School Progress Reports beginning for the 2020-2021 school year. This report will align closely to the Board of Education’s Goals and Guardrails. As part of the process to develop this report, the Division of Evaluation, Research, and Accountability (ERA) is gathering feedback on what measures should — or should not — be included. School Progress Report for 2019-2020: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and associated school closures, the District will release an unscored end-of-year summary report for each school to share information on the metrics that are available for the 2019-20 school year. This report will be released in January 2021, with a subset of metrics for district schools to be released in October 2020. Please follow the link to learn more details.

The 2018-2019 school year for 95% attendance by school level has been updated as well as the district level 95% Attendance, which now includes the month of January for 2020. Both files can be found in the Attendance section of Open Data.

The Out-of-School Suspension files have also be updated, including the 2018-2019 school level file and 2020 January data has been added to the Out-of-School Suspensions for the district level. Both files can be found in the Out-of-School Suspensions section of Open Data.

The 2018-2019 School Graduation Rates for four-year first-time 9th grade cohort 2014-2015, five-year first-time 9th grade cohort 2013-2014 and six-year first-time 9th grade cohort 2012-2013 is now available on Open Data! Please follow the link to School Performance to view these data.

We are also publishing for the first time a District Graduation Rate file with four-year, five-year, or six-year rates for first-time 9th  grade cohorts 2010-2011 through 2015-2016. The “Graduation Rate – Including Alternative Schools” includes traditional District K-12 schools, alternative education schools, Philadelphia Virtual Academy, and Widener Memorial School. The “Graduation Rate – Excluding Alternative Schools” includes traditional District K-12 schools, Philadelphia Virtual Academy, and Widener Memorial School only. Please follow the link to School Performance to view these data.

Please submit feedback regarding SPR changes for the SY2018-19 cycle!

In response to feedback collected over the past several years, in order to better align the School Progress Reports with research, and to ensure that the SPR is reflective of performance for Philadelphia schools, the School District of Philadelphia is considering changes to the School Progress Reports for the SY2018-19 SPR cycle (i.e., the report that will be released in January 2020).

We are excited to announce the newly released 2016-17 Alternative Education Progress Reports (AEPRs).  These reports are SDP’s accountability framework (similar to the SPR) for our district-run and contracted alternative education programs.  This is SDP’s first public release of the AEPR.

2016-2017 AEPR reports and supplemental material (User Guide, FAQ, Raw Data File, etc.) are now live and can be viewed at: www.philasd.org/aepr.

The District’s School Profiles have also been updated to include AEPR results.

95% Attendance by Grade is UPDATED in Open Data!

Data is now available through May, and will continue to be updated monthly during the school year. We have also added an “All Grades” aggregate of District-wide 95% Attendance numbers for each month.

Please visit our School Performance page to download an UPDATED Open Data file that displays the number and percent of enrolled students in each grade that attended at least 95% of instructional days for SY 2014-15 through 2017-18 at the District level.

The first School Progress Report Preview Window is now open!

The first SPR Preview Window is now open (through November 22) for principals and charter school leaders to view preliminary scores for select metrics. The second preview window, in December, will include preliminary scores for the remaining metrics. These preview windows allow us to communicate with principals in preparation for a full SPR release in early 2018.

The 2017-2018 Master School List is now available on the School Information page. The Longitudinal Master School List, which contains all District and Charter schools since 2001-2002, was also updated. Finally, our School Catchment Areas are also up to date for the 2017-2018 school year.
